Kashmir is on the boil.At least it was with young terrorists like Abdul Wahid appearing on Facebook with rifles slung across their shoulders.It was chilling and one wondered what the hell was the army doing.The new army chief General Bipin Rawat is a strong man and he has caught the bull by the horns.Elite units of the army have been instructed to neutralize the top leadership of the Hizbul Mujahedin.The Rashtriya rifles and army commandos searched the countryside and a search and kill operation was launched.

The army also became proactive on the border and a bombing across the LOC was the norm in reply to provocation from Pakistan.

There were a few surgical strikes as well.The top gun toting leaders of the Hizbul were not aware what a firefight is and when the Hizbul commander Abdul was surrounded he panicked.He was shot dead and now his successor another man who prided himself on Facebook has also met the same fate.The Rashtriya Rifles on a tip off surrounded the gang of terrorists and in all 9 were gunned down.Sure, the army is also suffering casualties, but that is part of the game.

There is now a marked change in the approach of the army and all credit must go to Narendra Modi.The earlier PM Manmohan Singh had no idea of what is power politics and apart from saying" yes sir, yes sir, 3 bags full" he did practically nothing.Incidentally, he recited the famous nursery rhyme to the tune of the Gandhi family.It's a real shame.

The army chief has also commended the action of Major Gogoi who had the guts to tie a stone thrower to the bonnet of a military jeep at the head of a convey.The result? the stone throwers scared to hit their own kin just ran away.Thus the Kashmir valley needs men of mettle who can tackle a difficult situation by unconventional means.Yet we have some Muslim apologists among the politicians like Sharad Yadav who are blaming the army.The best course is to put these man like Sharad Yadav right in the jungles of Kashmir.They will then realize what terrorism is.

The army has a long fight ahead as the local terrorists are supported by elements of the Pakistan army who haven't got over their defeat and surrender of 100,000 prisoners as POW in 1971.The army is now on the prowl and hopefully, things will improve.In addition, the terrorists on Facebook will have to remember that it takes only one bullet to kill them
