Its Frarticide As Soldier Shoots And Kills Indian Army Major
In Kashmir Major shot dead by Subordinate
The rank war is getting grim and now news has come that an Indian soldier of the elite Armoured unit shot dead his superior a Major who had admonished him not to use the phone on duty
The rank war is creeping into the Indian army.It really cannot be pinpointed how this happened. But all the same, it points to a very grave problem and one wonders how the army will fight a war in Kashmir with such goings on.It also points to a breakdown in discipline. What happened? A soldier shot dead his superior name Major Shikhar Thapa of the 71 Armored Regiment. This is an elite regiment of the Indian army involved in counter insurgency operations and sadly the reason is so trivial. This makes the killing very very serious. An Indian soldier allegedly fired five bullets into the major in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector.
The incident cannot be brushed aside and points to a serious malaise in the army. How will the army solve this problem? If soldiers on trivial matters shoot their officers dead it is a break down in the chain of command. No army can fight a war in case there is a break down in command and the Army has to do a lot of introspection.
The army is fighting a counter insurgency war for over 25 years. How will it remain a fighting unit? The Government is equally responsible by downgrading the perks of the army vis a vis the civilians. The army cannot brush this incident under the carpet and something drastic has to be done, otherwise, God saves India and the army.
