The American army is a professional force, but everything doesn't go by the rule book. Fox news has reported that a scandal has surfaced which brought out a strange episode. It has now been brought to light that members of the Marines, the elite force of the US army have been photographing fellow women soldiers in the nude and then posting them on a secret page on Facebook. This secret page could only be accessed by the Marines and some veterans as well members of the Royal Marines of the UK. There is much interaction between the marines of the US
army and the British marines.The women soldiers were secretly videotaped through mobile phones when they were showering or dressing up. These videos and photographs were published on Facebook and along with the photos, the complete details of the girls were also public property.
Ever since Congress in its wisdom opened all branches of the military to women, they have women recruited into the marines as well. However so far their efficacy in battle is not tested, but they certainly have made the life in the marines more colorful. Women in the Marines from photos which we have seen apply light makeup and lipstick and endeavor to look lovely. This is a woman trait and nothing wrong with it. One can recall that Gaddafi' women brigade were beautiful and wore makeup as well as handled guns.
In the US Marines, this is
an act of indiscipline( photographing women combatants in the nude). The moment the information was available to the authorities the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was asked to investigate. The photographs have been taken down. But it is not known how long these photographs were on the secret page on Facebook. .An internal Marine Corps document obtained has revealed that a former Marine maintained the Google Drive and that it had a following of 30,000.This is a huge figure and its a matter of regret to the women that such a large number of soldiers were regaling themselves with the nude photos and videos of the women Marines. This seems deep phenomena as in Japan a pilot was dismissed for video graphing women while showering on board a cruiser.
Senior Congressman Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, has called for a complete investigation and asked the Marine commander to investigate the incident and punish the culprits. This looks like a tall order as punishing so many marines may not be feasible, but one hopes this will be stopped. A few marines have been punished with what is termed as "minor punishment" under the Unified Military code, but over all the incident has died down
