World terrorism is on the up and after the attacks in Nice in France and Berlin in Germany, a similar attack has taken place in Jerusalem. The only saving grace is that the truck attack killed fewer people as only 4 died and 15 were injured. Never the less it was an attack that will make Israel sit up and in particular, the failure of the famed Mossad to get a clue is disheartening. Another sad aspect is that since September 16, 40 Israeli citizens have been killed as well as 2 Americans by terror attacks by the Palestine Arabs.
The deep
divide can be seen from the fact that many Palestinians were happy with this attack and distributed sweets to children to celebrate the truck attack. This is a stark reminder that the divide is almost complete between Arabs and Jews. To celebrate a killing shows the deep animosity between the two peoples. The Palestine have also suffered and 240 have been killed in clashes with Israeli police and security forces.In this incident, the truck driven by a resident of East Jerusalem was moving at high speed when it veered off the road and moved into a crowd of revelers. It halted and began to reverse with a view to killing some more people but security forces opened fire and the
driver was shot dead. This is a bit of a setback as had the driver been captured the wealth of information the Israeli intelligence could have extracted would have been useful. It may have helped form a national disaster plan to put an end to such attacks.The pattern of all attacks is similar and now the Israeli PM Netanyahu has confirmed that the killer had his sympathies with the ISIS. Hamas the terror group has hailed the attack, but not owned up to the attack. This proves that the attack is the handiwork of the ISIS. This is cause for worry as Jerusalem is by itself a hot place as it is claimed by both Israel and Palestine, yet Israel has made the city its capital. Donald Trump has already announced that he will allow the shifting of the US embassy to Jerusalem. If that happens more such attacks can be expected.
The Israeli police have arrested the father and brother of the attacker. But I wonder if they can help solve the mystery of the attack. There is no way there can be a solution given the animosity between the Arabs and Jews.
